Manchester United v/s Liverpool

Head to Head

In the reverse fixture at Anfield on 25th October 2009, Liverpool ended their worst sequence of results since 1987 with a 2-0 win over Manchester United.

Fernando Torres and David Ngog scored the goals, with Nemanja Vidic sent-off for the third successive time in matches between the two sides.

Ryan Giggs returns to United’s squad for Sunday’s match at Old Trafford.

Giggs has missed seven matches since breaking his arm at Aston Villa last month but has returned to training without a problem and is expected to start against Rafael Benitez’s men.

Midfielder Alberto Aquilani will be assessed before a decision is taken on whether he can rejoin the squad.

The Italy international missed Thursday’s Europa League victory over Lille with a sickness bug but, even if he is passed fit, it is likely he will only get a place on the bench.

Fellow midfielder Maxi Rodriguez returns to the squad having been ineligible for Europe and only Martin Skrtel (foot) and Fabio Aurelio (thigh) are missing with injury. source

Today it will be a revenge match, but the team with the strongest mind-set will win. I think Manchester United will have more ball possessions today that the previous head to head. Liverpool was not that good from the start of the season, but during the recent matches, the chance was on their side. They won against Portsmouth and Lille (to go in the quarter finals for Europa League). It will be a battle at Old Trafford with lots of surprises!

Manchester United will have to win to maintain the top place in the premier league, as we have Chelsea also playing today. Arsenal is on the top already! So it will be a fight of premier league winner and past matches revenge!

My forecast for the match:

Manchester United 3 – 1 Liverpool

Actual score:

Manchester united 2 – 1 Liverpool
