Some facts:

Equal work involves four factors:

  1. equal skills
  2. equal effort
  3. equal responsibility
  4. equal working condition

Differences in pay for equal work are permitted if they result from

  1. differences in seniority
  2. differences in quality of performance
  3. differences in quality and quantity of production
  4. some factor other than sex or race (e.g. premiums for night hours)
